Media.net Acquired by Chinese Consortium: Opportunity for Bloggers
A Chinese Consortium has acquired Media.net.
Media.net which has been one of the major players in the ad-tech space announced its acquisition by a Chinese Consortium from serial internet entrepreneur Divyank Turakhia’s Starbuster TMT Investments in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $900M USD. I think this is a good news for bloggers as it will afford them to earn more revenue on their blogs or websites.
It is no longer news that it is difficult to get enrolled into Google AdSense platform. Therefore, bloggers usually seek for Google AdSense alternatives. Media.net over the years has proven to be among the best Google AdSense alternative in term of income earning potential for bloggers. However, this does not mean that Media.net is free for all. Media.net has its own terms of service which makes it difficult for small bloggers to get approved. Before Media.net can approve your website to join their advertisement platform, your website is expected to rank 200,000 or below in Alexa rank with significant traffics coming from United States of America, United Kingdom and Canada. This means that, even if your website ranks below 200,000 Alexa rank and you don’t have enough traffic coming form United States of America, United Kingdom and Canada, you may still not be approved.
With this new acquisition by a Chinese Consortium, I believe that Media.net may begin to consider traffic from Asian countries for the purpose of granting approval to blogs and websites that generate traffics from such countries. While this may not weaken the dominance Google AdSense is having in the ad-tech space, this will definitely strengthen Media.net further. One of the reason Google AdSense has been able to pay publishers higher rates is because of the large number of advertisers they have from various countries. Now that Media.net has been acquired by a Chinese Consortium, more business opportunities will begin to flow in. Remember that China is the largest internet user as of today followed by India. The internet users from these two countries alone stand at 1.18 billion people.
So, if you are a blogger and have suffer disapproval or total ban form Google AdSense, Media.net is a good alternative to consider. The earlier you sign up, the better. I have an opinion that the Chinese Consortium will take Media.net to a higher level.
