- Enter your HDFC Bank Debit Card number and your ATM PIN
- Choose “Other Option” from the main screen

What is IMPS?
IMPS connotes Immediate Payment System
HDFC Bank charges customers for outward IMPS transactions only. That is, customers don’t pay charges on inward IMPS transactions. But if you are an Imperia or Preferred customer, you will not pay any charge on IMPS Fund Transfer. This free offer is effective from 15th March 2021. But for others, the following charges apply to outward IMPS transactions:
- 0 – 1000 Rupees: Rs 3.50 plus applicable GST
- 1001 – 100000 Rupees: Rs 5 plus applicable GST
- Above 100000 Rupees Rs 15 plus applicable GST
IMPS Transaction Limits
IMPS transaction limits vary depending on the channel you want to use to make the transfer. However, the following transfer limits apply:
- IMPS Using Account Number: The maximum transfer amount per transaction is Rs 2 lakhs. The maximum transfer amount in a day is as per the customer’s TPT limits
- IMPS Using MMID: For people using HDFC Bank NetBanking and MobileBanking to make the transfer, the maximum limit is Rs 5000 per day per Customer ID> Please note that the Rs 5000 limit is on transactions from either of the channels and not from both HDFC Bank NetBanking and MobileBanking.
- IMPS using USSD: Maximum limit of Rs. 1000 each if IMPS using MMID and IMPS using Account number respectively.
IMPS is available 24/7 every day.
What is the difference between NEFT and RTGS Funds transfers?
Both NEFT and RTGS Funds transfers are electronic payment systems that customers can use to transfer funds to any part of India. The main difference between the two is that while NEFT works on ‘net settlement’, RTGS works on ‘gross settlement’. RTGS is faster because the transfer of funds from one bank to the other takes place on a real-time basis. That is, transactions are settled immediately they are finalized. On the other hand, NEFT fund transfers are processed in batches. Any fund transfer that is initiated after a designated settlement time will be deferred to the next designated settlement time.
RTGS Fund Transfer Charges
With effect from 15 November 2010, the following charges apply to RTGS transactions on HDFC bank Netbanking:
- Transfer amount from Rs. 2 lac to Rs. 5 lac, charges of Rs. 25 (inclusive of taxes) per transaction
- Transfer amount above Rs. 5 lac, charges of Rs. 50 (inclusive of taxes) per transaction
Note: effective 1st November 2017, RTGS funds transfer done online are free while transfer charges of Rs 15 plus applicable GST applies to RTGS from HDFC Bank Branches.
RTGS is available 24/7 except between 11.30 pm and 00.30 am due to cut-off.
RTGS Transfer Limits
RTGS transfers are for the amount of more than Rs. 2,00,000 while the maximum amount of funds that a customer can transfer per day is as per the customer’s TPT limit (Maximum up to 50 Lakh)
NEFT Fund Transfer Charges
Charges applicable to NEFT transactions on HDFC bank Netbanking are as follows:
- Transfer up to Rs. 1,00,000, charges of Rs. 2 plus applicable GST
- Transfer above Rs. 1,00,000, charges of Rs. 10 plus applicable GST
Please note that all charges are subject to changes. Therefore, it is good to always confirm the existing charges.
NEFT Transfer Limits
If you are making NEFT funds transfer, you need to take note of the following transfer limits:
- Transfers from 7 am to 7 pm on RBI working day: The maximum amount of funds that a customer can transfer per day is as per the customer’s TPT limit, subject to the maximum of ‘Rs. 50 Lakhs.
- Transfers from 7 pm to 7 am on working days and all holidays(also include 2nd and 4th Saturdays and Sundays): Customers can transfer a maximum of Rs.2.00 lacs per transaction subject to the TPT limit. Multiples of Rs. 2 Lacs up to the customer’s TPT limit. Maximum up to Rs. 50 Lakh.
- Addition of New Beneficiary(Online): While a customer is adding a new beneficiary, he can make transaction of a maximum of Rs.50,000/- (in full or parts inclusive of failed attempt) during the first twenty-four hours.
NEFT Transfer is available 24/7 throughout the year. But remember that settlement to the beneficiary is done based on RBI batches.
How to Make Transfer to a Third Party
Before you can send money to an account of a third party, you will need to provide few essential details which include the following:
- Name of the beneficiary customer
- Account number of the beneficiary customer
- Bank of the beneficiary customer
- Amount to be transferred
- Account number to be debited
- Sender to receiver information (if any)
- The IFSC code of the receiving branch
Credit Card Bill Payment
With HDFC Bank NetBanking, you can pay any credit card bills through your account online. To do this, you must ensure that your card is linked to your account. How do you link your card to your HDFC Bank Account? It is simple, just follow the simple process
- Visit https://www.hdfcbank.com and click Login
- Enter your HDFC NetBanking ID and Password
- Select the “Credit Cards” tab
- Click on the “Register New Card” link
- Enter your Card details (Card number, expiry date, ATM PIN) and click “Submit”.
Once you have linked your credit card to your HDFC Bank Netbanking account, you can now pay your credit card bills. The process is as follows:
- Visit https://www.hdfcbank.com and click Login
- Enter your HDFC NetBanking ID and Password
- Select the “Credit Cards” tab
- Click on the Transact option and select your registered credit card
- Choose a payment option
- Click on “Confirm” to complete the transaction.
How to Register for Credit Card Autopay
To register for Credit Card Autopay with HDFC Netbanking, you will need to follow this process
- Visit HDFC bank’s website and login to NetBanking with your Customer ID and IPIN
- Click the Cards tab
- Select Autopay Register from the Request option on the left side
- Choose the Credit Card number that you want to register for the Credit Card Autopay facility and your HDFC Bank account from which the Credit Card payment will be made.
- Select “Pay total Due” if you want to pay the full amount of your statement. Select the “Minimum Amount Due” if you want to pay only the minimum amount due.
- Then click continue and then confirm
A message confirming the successful registration of your credit card autopay will be displayed on your screen. It will take seven days to activate the Credit Card Autopay facility. Therefore, if you’re your credit card payment due date is seven days or less, away from the Autopay registration date, you will need to pay your monthly credit card bill through your usual payment mode. The Autopay will take effect from the next billing cycle.

- Enter your HDFC NetBanking ID and Password
- Select the “New Debit Card” tab
- Click on the Debit Card hot listing link. All cards that are linked to your account will be displayed.
- Choose the Debit card that you want to block
- Specify the reasons why you want to block the card
- Click “Confirm”
- The card will be blocked and you will receive a confirmation to that effect.
Utility Bill Payment
HDFC Bank NetBanking provides customers with a convenient and hassle-free way to pay their utility bills. Interestingly, customers can pay for more than 250 billing merchants online. Customers can also give standing instructions to pay bills that are recurring so that they don’t miss their due dates. You will only need to add the biller once and you can be receiving bills in your account.
Examples of utility bill payments include electricity, gas, landline phone, water, and post-paid mobile. Other recurring bills include insurance premium, subscription, HDFC Bank Credit Card Bill, other banks credit card bill, mutual fund installment, club membership, and rent payment, etc.
How to Pay Tax Using HDFC NetBanking
If you have calculated how much tax you will pay, you can actually pay your personal income tax through HDFC Bank. To pay your tax online, kindly follow this procedure:
- Complete your income tax returns online here
- Select Challan No 280 from the list of Challans on the next page
- Select “Other Than Company” (if you are filing as an individual)
- Enter details of your PAN Card, Address, Email Addresses, Mobile Phone Number, and Assessment Year, and then click Proceed
- Select the self-assessment tax in the Tax Payable Option
- Select HDFC Bank from the list of banks
- Click “Proceed”
- You will be redirected to the HDFC Bank Net Banking login page
- Login to HDFC NetBanking with your Username and IPIN
- Enter your calculated income tax amount and surcharge or cess (if any). The system will recalculate your total tax automatically.
- Click “Pay”.
- You will receive Challan Identification Number (CIN). You need to save it as will need to provide it when filing your tax returns. Your Challan Identification Number (CIN) can be recovered from HDFC Bank for up to 90 days.
Regenerate Your IPIN
You can easily regenerate your HDFC Bank Net Banking IPIN (Password) online. You can do this by providing OTP which the bank sent to your registered mobile phone number and your Debit Card details. Alternatively, you can provide OTP which the bank sent to your registered mobile phone number and your email address. The second option is applicable for second citizen customers.
To be more precise, if you want to regenerate your password, you will need to log in to your HDFC Bank Netbanking, Enter your Customer ID, and then click on Forgot IPIN. You can then follow the procedure as will be displayed. For an authenticated request to regenerate your Customer ID, you will need to provide your registered mobile phone number, date of birth, and your PAN details. OTP will be sent to your registered phone number. You need to enter the OTP sent to you. Then, your HDFC Bank Netbanking Customer ID will be displayed to you.
